What We Do

Synergen is a base load plant, which means we operate at full load around the clock, seven days a week. We generate 400 Megawatts per hour of electricity which is sold into the Single Electricity Market (SEM).

The total annual electricity consumption in the SEM is about 37,000,000 Mwh. The Irish electricity market is relatively small – with a peak winter demand of approximately 5,000 MW/hour. Synergen supplies around 8 per cent of the markets requirement.
